Due to our wonderful Payroll and Finance Coordinator leaving in March on maternity leave, we are starting the search early, for an experienced and talented Payroll and Finance Coordinator to join us on a .75 FTE fixed-term contract.  You will be working from our head office in Levin.

This role is due to start in the last week of January, and you’ll have plenty of time to learn the ropes and intricacies of the role, before maternity leave begins!  You will be a great communicator, a proactive influencer with a passion for payroll and getting the numbers just right.  Therefore, you’ll have amazing attention to detail and communication skills to deal with our teams across the entire Electra Group.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Finance and Regulatory Manager, you’ll be responsible for:

  • End to end payroll processing on a fortnightly basis for approximately 180 staff, waged, salaried and directors
  • Utilising your IMS/MYOB payroll expertise to process end to end payroll in a timely and quality focused manner
  • Finance Administration support including  backup support to Accounts Payable and Receivables (would be hugely advantageous)
  • Payroll reporting such as leave balances, end of month journals, end of financial year close off and any discrepancies that must be brought to the managers attention
  • Understanding and working within ACC Payroll frameworks
  • Applying legislation as it pertains to payroll (Holidays Act 2003, etc)
  • Applying your knowledge of rostering, union and collective agreements and penal rates/allowances to the payroll as applicable

The boxes you'll tick 

  • 2+ years of experience in IMS/MYOB payroll in an end-to-end capacity
  • Knowledge of ACC and how it pertains to payroll (Average daily pay etc.)
  • A strong knowledge of financial support processes and procedures (highly advantageous but not essential)
  • Strong knowledge of collective agreements, penal rates and allowances
  • A strong knowledge of rostering in a ‘shift’ related environment
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Great time management skills with a deadline driven approach
  • The ability to engage with people at all levels and remain calm under pressure
  • Sound computer skills across finance packages and the MS Office Suite
